An Integrated Learning Organisation Anglo American Learning | Unearthing the Learning organisation

We are changing how we approach learning, making it more joined up and strategic. This resetting of how we think about and deliver learning across Anglo American will ensure our people have the capabilities needed to deliver operational excellence today and that we are building the skills needed for tomorrow. To enable this change, we are bringing our academy and training teams together into one global learning function, better able to direct spend and resources to deliver what matters most. This will enable us to eliminate duplication and waste, better manage our capability-related risks, and ensure that learning is relevant to the needs of the learner and easily applied in the workplace. Our new learning function is organised along the learning value chain, so that each aspect of learning is conducted once, holistically and by dedicated roles. At each, stage we will prioritise the needs of our businesses to deliver safe, high-performing operations.

This document provides an interactive who's who in learning. You can explore our learning organisational structure and, by clicking on the name of a role holder, find out about each of our learning team members... what we are focusing on at work, as well as unearthing a bit about what makes us... us.

Tim Walker-Jones Group Head of Learning 17 CHS, London

Unearthing the real me… I am married to Joanna, who I met at university. We have three children, Thomas (15), Hal (13) and Alessia (10) and two dogs, Riley and Mo. We live in rural Dorset, about 3 hours from London, where we are renovating an old house... slowly. When I’m not working, I am trying to get fit and lose some weight. I have taken up running, enjoy the gym and have started playing tennis. To relax, I enjoy painting and reading spy novels. I can recommend the Slough House books by Mick Herron.

My top responsibilities • Lead Anglo American’s learning function globally • Develop and implement Anglo American learning strategy • Build workforce capability in support of operational excellence, sustainable performance and growth • Contribute to wider P&O leadership

I have aphantasia, which means I can’t visualise things in their absence. One impact of this is that I struggle with recognising faces. I am happiest when I am in the mountains, enjoying a snowy winters day, clear blue skies and some fantastic skiing.

My top priorities for 2024 • Implement learning transformation

• Develop and implement approach for supervisory development • Optimisation and stabilisation of site learning teams in South Africa • Developing our leaders to bring our leadership framework to life

Speak to me about … the learning strategy and learning priorities.

Unearthing the real me… I am married to Helen and we have many, many adopted “children” – three boys (Cebo – 21, Siya – 20 & Bonga – 19) and more animals than space allows on this page to write all their names. Anglo transferred me to Zambia ca. 1996 at which time Helen gave up her professional career and started animal charity work and the rest is history …. This year her charity organisation (Rainbow Nation Animals) turns 16.

My top responsibilities • Ensuring the safe, stable & capable operation of the CEL • Developing a Group wide review of all learning facilities • Providing technical support to the Performance Consulting & Solutions teams My top priorities for 2024 • Realising the full potential of all our global learning assets • Sustainability of the Anglo American learning strategy • Supporting our operating assets to build a culture of Operational Excellence

One of our rescued dogs, Loofy, is a qualified therapy dog and does work both in hospital trauma care and assisting abused children prepare to testify in court cases. I have n+4 bicycles, where n is the number I need. The longest non-stop bicycle race I have ridden is 361km (give or take a couple of km getting lost).

Unearthing the real me… I have lived in southwest London since I graduated and thrive in the busy city life. I like to be in the office most days! In September 2023 I got married to James (Carpenter / Builder) in Las Vegas – officially engaged, married and honeymooned within 2 weeks! I now have a gorgeous 17-year-old bilingual stepdaughter who lives in France, although James is English (he lived in France for 23 years and speaks fluent French). I am a keen gym fanatic and enjoy catching up with friends, going to a gig and particularly love a Sunday pub roast dinner (been veggie since 16!) with a glass or 2 of red wine.

My top responsibilities • Provide excellent admin support for Tim Walker-Jones; e.g. meeting and travel logistics, system approvals

• Be the gateway person to Tim and his leadership team • Support Tim and the Learning team wherever possible My top priorities for 2024

I enjoy travelling and favour a hot holiday with a rooftop pool, or a European weekend away. I am most proud of my Mech Engineering degree, then I went into management within the fitness industry.

• Supporting Tim’s admin requirements, priorities and deadlines • Help to bring the Learning teams together and build collaboration • Building relationships with the HR team, PA network and the wider Anglo team Speak to me about… Tim’s diary, Learning approvals, directing any queries regarding Tim or the Learning team.

Unearthing the real me… A proud Irishman, guilty of any stereotypes that entails, I am married to Stephanie, and we have three sporty children Ellie, Jay and Freddie. Our home is in Cheshire in the Northwest of England. When I’m not working, I am trying to take the opportunity while on assignment in South Africa to explore the country and to play some golf. I am a passionate team sports fan in particular of Man Utd and Irish Rugby.

Unearthing the real me… I grew up in a small town called Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. I have 9 siblings, so I know all there is to know about chaos! I am married with a beautiful 5 year-old daughter. I grew up wishing to one day become a famous singer, and had to let go of this dream in Grade 11 when I finally accepted I couldn’t sing to save my life. I then decided to focus more on what I was actually good at, which was school. I still enjoy

singing, but more as a hobby. When I’m not working, I enjoy taking my daughter out on what we call adventures. Unearthing the real me… The joke goes “How do you know if someone’s a pilot? They’ll tell you”. I’m not a pilot, but I was a Royal Marines officer, and the same goes for them. I’m also a father of two, husband of a beautiful and hard-working wife (Nicki), with a Labrador and lovely home in Surrey; so continuing to fill a few stereotypes there… However, I am more Irish than I sound, and I have spent more time than most in some of the colder extremes of the world. I am proving to be a not-so-great learner. I've been doing Spanish lessons on Duolingo for 2 years and can’t form a fluent sentence. I am never more relaxed than in, or preferably, under water. I am a fair-weather scuba diver (tropical waters only), and my favourite dives are on wrecks and reefs.

Unearthing the real me… When not working, I unwind by spending time with friends, catching up on laughs and adventures. We're always planning vacations to new places, creating memories that last a lifetime. I love the energy of techno and house music, and I’m a content creator on Instagram where I post my music videos. I am happiest when I can travel home to Argentina and get a big dose of family time, soaking up sunshine and laughter with the people who know me best. One day, I dream of living a peaceful life in the countryside. I can picture myself tending to a vegetable garden, enjoying fresh produce, and having playful dogs as companions.

Unearthing the real me… I recently tied the knot with Ross and we have a wonderful daughter Hayley, alongside our two rescue dogs from Spain, Buffy and Benji. We've settled in Romford, a place curiously straddling the identities of London and Essex. My passion for live music sees me spending much of my annual leave at music festivals, and when I'm not at a gig, I'm likely changing up my hair color, hidden beneath which are myriad tattoos. Walking our dogs is a cherished part of my day, much like our walking holidays in the Peak District, my favourite retreat. I hold a degree in Psychology and am qualified in Psychological Assessments by the British Psychological Society. Unearthing the real me… I met my husband, Manny, in a bustling nightclub during a lively Portuguese social event. This chance encounter marked the beginning of our enduring journey together and we proudly celebrated our silver wedding anniversary recently. Boksburg then Alberton in South Africa, was our home before we made the bold move to Surrey, in 2002, to start anew. I have family and friends dispersed around the world and I love spending time with them whenever travel permits. As an introvert, for me the true essence of travel lies in the moments spent with family and friends, trading hotel stays for the warmth of their hospitality and comfort of familiar faces. One day, I dream of making

During my time outside of work, I try my best to keep fit and put the time into myself. I love being outdoors, especially in nature. If I could live on the beach, I would in an instant! Unearthing the real me… My two main passions in life are wine and cricket. I am working towards a diploma in wine. I am still quite early on in that journey but am always happy to give recommendations if needed! I have adored cricket from an early age. I play for the Chiswick Women’s Team (as a medium swing bowler who cannot bat) and love spending summer days at Lords or The Oval watching all formats of the game (with a glass of champers in hand of course). Unearthing the real me… My passions in life include sport, theatre, film, reading and music to name a few. On my weekends if I’m not playing football or running then you can find me reading a book, catching up with mates or watching some great content. I’ve recently started to learn Spanish and am hoping one day to use this to move to Latin America or Spain so I can eat Paella on the beach on a more regular basis. This year I completed my first marathon event for which the training nearly killed me. It was an amazing day out on Brighton seafront that my knees and hips will never forgive me for.

Unearthing the real me… I live in a small village in West Sussex, the south of England. I have spent the last 25 years travelling for work and living in many interesting remote places including West Africa; and am delighted to finally settle into the countryside. When I’m not working, I indulge my interests of digital innovation, geotech and community volunteering. Most days you will find me walking or running in the woods or through the hills, doing various forms of tactical PT or simply enjoying the British countryside. Something people don’t know about me is I am also a soldier in the British Army.
